What does the EEC Policy Committee do?
The Eastern Economic Corridor Policy Committee (EEC Policy Committee) is responsible for formulating policies and overseeing the implementation of initiatives within the EEC.
What is EECO?
EECO stands for the Eastern Economic Corridor Office of Thailand. It is a government agency with the primary mandate of driving the development of the EEC area, promoting investment, and enhancing the quality of life for local communities. EECO carries out these responsibilities by coordinating with public and private sector entities to advance projects within the EEC.
Why were Chachoengsao, Chon Buri, and Rayong selected as the EEC area?
The EEC builds upon the achievements of the Eastern Seaboard—Thailand’s premier economic base, which benefits from well-developed infrastructure, efficient logistics systems, and strategic location within Asia.
What is a Special Economic Promotion Zone?
It is a designated area established to promote economic activities such as investment, commerce, or targeted industries. These zones provide special incentives, facilitation measures, and specific regulatory frameworks to support business operations.
What are the key targeted industries within the EEC?

How does EECO develop the local workforce to support the EEC?
EECO collaborates with educational institutions and local enterprises to develop workforce skills that meet the needs of targeted industries. It also supports the establishment of joint public – private training centers to accommodate workers at all levels.
What environmental protection measures are implemented in the EEC?
- Urban planning and land-use zoning that establish buffer zones between industrial areas and communities or conservation areas.
- Preparation of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) or Environmental Health Impact Assessments (EHIA) prior to project implementation.
- Promotion of recycling, proper wastewater and hazardous waste management, and the use of renewable energy in production processes.
- Collaboration with relevant agencies to develop and implement environmental management plans that balance area development with the sustainable management of natural resources and the environment.
How do SMEs in the area benefit?

What measures does the EEC implement to reduce inequality and distribute income to local communities?
The EEC links investment benefits to community sustainability through:
- Developing local economies so they can participate in supply chains arising from economic activities in the EEC.
- Strengthening the agricultural sector by improving access to technology and enabling farmers to produce high – quality, market – standard products.
- Upgrading area – based and community – based tourism with distinctive cultural identities to attract higher – spending visitors.

Is the cancellation of existing comprehensive plans and the adoption of the EEC Land Use Plan considered an exceptional process that bypasses normal urban planning procedures?
The preparation of the Land Use Plan for the Eastern Economic Corridor (the EEC Plan) is carried out in accordance with the Eastern Economic Corridor Act, B.E. 2561 (2018). The process follows established urban planning principles and is jointly implemented by EECO and the Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning.
How does EECO help attract investment?
EECO creates an enabling investment environment by offering tax and non – tax incentives and providing one – stop services for both domestic and foreign investors.
How does EECO prevent and regulate inappropriate investors?
For projects located within Special Economic Promotion Zones, conditions are imposed during the approval process, followed by monitoring and evaluation. EECO has the authority to revoke incentives or suspend projects immediately if conditions are violated. For projects located within the EEC but outside Special Economic Promotion Zones, EECO coordinates with relevant authorities to take action in accordance with the law.
Can Thai investors receive the same benefits as foreign investors?
Yes. Both Thai and foreign investors are eligible for incentives, subject to the investment approval criteria.
